Gina & Me :)

So my childhood friend came to visit me today. Gina got to my house around 10am and I was barely rolling out of bed. :) We made some delicious english muffin egg breakfasts and of course when we get together we have TONS of fun and we decided to head out and about to see what we could get into. First we made a quick stop at Bud's Sno Cone Hut which is a bit out of my comfort zone since I'm used to going to Bedford Snoball. :) Gina ordered some sort of Hawaiian sno cone that had strawberry and banana in it and I ordered the pink panther which had bubble gum, some other flavor, and gummy bears. I stick to the gummy bears since it's a sure guarantee of enjoyment. Anyway, we enjoyed our treats outside and as I looked up I couldn't help but wanna take a picture of the pretty colors under the patio umbrella.

This umbrella along with pin wheels remind me of summers from way back when. I love this shot.
Once we were done there we were in the mood to see some animals. We looked for local petting zoo's but no luck so we headed to petsmart....I know...we are silly. We ran into a Chinese Water Dragon which is what my hubby has been wanting for a really long time. He's cute but agile and not really expensive. They cost about $30 buckaroos but you will need a gigantic tank to house him...at least 200 galloon tank because they grow to be a little over 4 FT LONG!!!!! As we stood there getting all of the specs on this reptile...Gina decides she wants to hold it. I look at her....take a step or two back and say "go ahead". So the pet keep opens up the cage and picks the little guy up and as Gina is holding him in her hand....HE JUMPS ONTO HER SHOULDER!!!! YIKES!!! There he is...this little green lizard just hanging out on my Gina's shoulder. So weird but so cool at the same time. She's an animal lover and so am I but I don't know...reptiles give me the creeps sometimes. :)
Over on the left you can see that the little baby lizards wanted a piggy back and if you look closely you can also see the reflection of the store pet keeper with her arms crossed thinking, "are you gonna buy it or not! Show and tell is over!" haha! Well....we didn't buy it but we did venture over to the fishes and aquariums....one of my fave spots! I was looking into getting a shark tank set up in our bedroom but when I ran across this cute fish I decided I may set up a "fancy goldfish" tank or "coi fish" tank up instead. The fancy ones are really fat and puffy and they don't look like fish in the face. They look like cute little woodchucks. I know it's weird but they are adorable fish and come in black and spotted colors as well. Hmmm they need a big tank and the other tank I have is only a 20gl so I think I'll stick to a coi fish tank instead. These will have to be for later. :) As we were there looking at all the fish I mentioned to Gina that I had a lonely aquarium at home with only ONE tiger barb in it. I also told her that we have tried to put another fish in there but we think he is really aggressive and killing them. She suggested I ask the fish guy about it and I did. He said that maybe I should add about 4-5 more tiger barbs to the tank along with tons of fake or real plant vegetation. Apparently the plants help fish hide if others are being aggressive. It's a form of safety for them. So after talking to Gina about it and both of us knowing that I was going to go home with more fish, I chose 4 more tiger barbs and tons of fake, colorful plants to put into my tank. As soon as we got home...Gina started setting it up as I took some cute pics of her. She would flinch every now and then as something would brush up against her arm and she thought that it was my killer fish Speedy coming to take a chomp! Haha! Here she is smiling for the camera as she adds another vine to the tank before releasing the other killers in. :)
Here is the finished tank! She did such a wonderful job helping me pick everything out! I went will full color because in my coi tank I want to make it more greens and add live vegetation. You can see two of five of the Tiger Barbs swimming for food up top! I absolutely love it! It's beautiful and relaxing to stare at their little home. So peaceful.
After all that work we made some delicious turkey tacos and then watched a movie. "Failure to Launch" which she liked and thought was funny. We also had some fresh strawberries in light cool whip. YUM! Crafting also took place as I watched her put together a Dora pillow case for her little baby girl Angelina. The day was great and soo much fun. Every time I get to see Gina even for a little while....I have such a wonderful time. I always miss her and I love her so much. :)

Major Purse Clean OUT

Ok so I don't know why since I turned 31 I feel as if I have the need to carry EVERYTHING with me. It's sad, a mess, and it hurts my shoulder. What's even more sad is the fact that since I'm on summer break from assistant teaching at my job and being a full time student at my university I don't carry my backpack, gym tote, and lunch bag. Enough babbling...here is the mess I poured out onto my bed today. The purse is a HUGE Guess bag that is floral on the inside and black and white on the outside. Got it at Ross for $50.

I have a black and hot pink coach wallet with random cards in there. Cards for free Boba...yum, cards for free breakfast at LE Peep...super yum, a freaking build-a-bear card..don't ask, my northlake college card, and my friends business cards for her photography. Not my business cards...but hers. LOL!

Then there are the electronics! Yes...I said electronics. My NOOK book which I don't care what you say...it goes with me so I can read my e-books, take notes, check my calendar, listen to pandora, look at my photo gallers. My Iphone which does all the same crap as the nook but on a smaller scale, ipod nano, two sets of ear buds, and a slim camera with a thick as hell case!

Here is my makeup bag and guess what? It's FILLED with even more crap!!!!! Powder, kabuki brush, eye shadow brush, dental sticks, allergy pills, blush, hello kitty mirror and band aids, perfume, carmex, lipsticks, lotion, aleve in a pill box, tide to go pen, & a bunch of lip crap.

A coach wristlet with all lip stuff and travel perfumes, bebe reading glasses, coach coin purse with TONS of HEAVY change!!!!

A water bottle, vitamins, a million packs of gum, antibac hand sani, via coffee mixer, tissues, a huge bottle of lotion and a huge bottle of sweet pea body spray.

A coach wallet with TONS of receipts and coupons for beauty crap, a bachelorette party invite, my planner and grocery list.

Strawberry Shortcake pencil pouch, my FAVORITE PENS, paper mate color pens, karopi pencils. :(

Wallet, work badge, cards, shades, money, a freaking knife, hair tie, a baby sock, keys w/ some more damn handibac sani.

My favorite thing is this wallet. I have all the cutsie crap but the faded stuff adds character. $3 wallet that makes me happy. LOL! Yea....half of this stuff cannot go back in to my bag! But it probably will!

BEFORE You Put That On

This book was one I found over a year ago at a local bookstore when looking for a guide to fashion do's and don'ts. I was pretty impressed when I saw the contents of the book Before you Put that On by Lloyd Boston. First of all, let me just give you a little insight on who Lloyd Boston is. He is the former art direction vice president for Tommy Hilfiger, is currently the on-air fashion editor for the Today Show and has worked with THe View, Oprah, and CNN. He is also the author of a few fashion books he has written over the past few years. With that being said, he has uncovered a day to day manual that gives you tips and tricks on how to dress your best 365 days of the year. In this book you will find ideas on how to dress for your body type, solutions on going from day wear to night wear in minutes, tailor tips, advice on accessories, and ideas on how to build a "user" friendly closet. Sometimes when I shuffle through the pages of this book trying to find a tip I can use for the calendar date at the moment, I find that maybe he suggests a scarf that is of a warm material to accent your neck when it's May. Of course this may not fly in Texas since the month of May is usually scorching, but if I am going to be in a well air conditioned facility for the majority of the day then I may consider it. If not, I opt for the alternative accessory, shoe, handbag, hat or what not. All in all, this book should be in every woman's collection. Anyone of all shapes, ages, & styles should grab this reader. It's well worth it.

Hello Summer!!!

So. Here we are. Another summer. This one is going to be a different one for me. I'm getting into this eating healthy thing, dad has alot going on with his kidney disease, im taking two extremely difficult courses at UTA over the summer, and above all...my husband and I have decided to have as much fun as possible this time around since my Spain trip fell through. I've made a list of things I wanna discuss on here. You can pick and choose what it is you would like to read. I've started many hobbies and projects, none with a time limit or expiration date, just things that I love to do on the side. I hope you enjoy reading all of this as much as I enjoying writing it. ;)

French women don't get fat???....really?

That is the absurd title of a book i picked up, heck i dunno, three years ago as i attempted, for the millionth time to get fit and loose weight,Yes, three years ago I've had this now and I'm barely on Chapter 4. Don't laugh. I read all the time....just not this book. Relax, don't toss 263 pages to the dogs right away...there's some good stuff coming up. Keep reading. Anyway, I saw this title on a talk show. The woman who wrote it was of significant age and her name is Mireille Guiliano. I know. Her name does not suck. I've had it as an off and on "bathroom" reader if you will. Sad. Still....quite true. Beneath the blunt title is the ever so beckoning sub-title that states "eating for pleasure". When I first brought this book home, I realized that I was so compelled to getting this book that I completely overlooked the ridiculous sub-title. I mean seriously....why the hell else would I eat. Of course I eat for pleasure, heck alot of us out there do! I then became confused because all of this time I thought you should only eat for satisfaction of hunger...not neccesarily for one's pleasure. And let me clarify that when I say pleasure I mean, "Please, sir, hand me a dozen of those decadent hot and moist oozing red velvet cupcakes topped with that dripping soft, wet, and creamy white............ok let's not get carried away....I was going to say, cheesecake frosting. Ahem, back to the lecture at hand.....that is what I mean by pleasure. :) So, here's the deal, after having read the first 4 chapters...I realize, this woman...actually makes sense. Yes, she regurgitates alot of what we know already. Portion control. Eat frequently. Try and fit in exercise to your daily routine yada yada yada. Even after all the replays, I still find it all intriguing. I mean, I think I may go ahead and blog about what I read in this book and how far it gets me. I know. I have done this before. Tried to get fit and slim down. I did it once, at least I almost did. For my wedding I lost 30lbs and needed 30 more to go to be at my ideal knockout, Kardashian weight goal! I still had massive wings under my arms but I was well on my way. Of course, that did not happen cause then we wouldn't be...here, in the middle of dieting book hell at the bottom of the dieting abyss of the dieters world. Well, let me begin...even though I've already begun to tell you how this will go. Amongst all the other rubbish and roodyhah (yes, i just made that word up), I will do my best to get fit along with the help of this book. This "american" woman who has, from what I gathered in the first 4 chapters gone frenchie cookoo in her head claims that the women from the country of BUTTER are never fat. In which I tell you that I will find a french fat woman yet. Her setting is one of the most breath taking countries that houses the most breath taking city of the world, Paris where she scribbles her non fat nonsense. And I mention breath taking twice because what takes your breath as you inhale are the rows and rows of "patisseries", mini markets filled with the tart and tasty scents of fromage and who could resist a little cafe on every street corner. I've never been but hollywood depicts it well. Oh and if you don't know what patisseries and fromage mean...tisk tisk...it's francais basque. *basic french* So, Should I trust her you ask? Why not? I ask in return. She has a published book, I have yet to have one, and her name is impeccible. I mean she sounds like the co-founder of Godiva chocolates or some sort of delightfully delicious cocoa based liqueur. Liqueur de cocoa by M. Guiliano with hints of rose, cocoa, raspberry mint and savory fig. See, there I go again, thinking of something sinful to my figure. Ok, so with that being said...I will start this plan Sunday. May 27th, 2010.(this is the third time i've changed this date haha) I'm not saying that I will blog daily, but I will give this diet...no wait, lets throw the D word out and call it a life changing experience. Yes, I will start this LCE and blog about it chapter by chapter. :/

What comes next???

So. This blog was intented to help my friends and i start a workout regimen. It failed. I...failed. I have not been posting anything about it at all. I just think that no matter how hard we all try to help one another commit to this, we are too busy to ever come together over the internet let alone meet up in person. I'm sitting in bed this morning in my flannel pj's after a long nights rest. There are sooo many things that I need to get done around here, but for some reason I have to take care of stuff elsewhere. Sunday, instead of cleaning and doing laundry as planned, I took the day to support my husbands band and the charity fundraising event he was performing at. Charities are something that I've always loved to be a part of and man did this one really put a dent in my soul. I was upset after having put out a box at a local restaurant for donations to bring joy to some of the children who are less fortunate than others. I went to pick the box up after it's due date and found that not a single toy or dollar had been dropped into it. I was angry, hurt, frustrated, and more than anything I was dissapointed. After having reeled through a lenghty list of cuss words in my head that descriped people who are selfish and just feel the need to have to be an Ebinenezer Grinch....I got myself together and thought of a backup plan. I called my brother at the hotel he works at for help. He in turn gathered his co workers who each pitched in money towards the donation box. Why didn't I think of putting that box at his workplace before? I dunno. I'm just glad they came through along with my parents and my husband. Sunday morning, Eric and I....that's my husbands...Eric, we went to different stores and gathered as many toys as we could with the money we raised. Not bad. :) So all in all Sunday went EXTREMELY well despite the fact that Erics set time was supposed to be between 7-9pm but was pushed back to almost midnight....(Sorry Kelly). :) :) Then comes Monday. The day was going as planned, I got up and did SOME chores and went to lunch with my husband. Shortly after, I ran errands and did SOME of my Christmas shopping. The little ones are checked off the list. :) As soon as Eric got home from work we headed to my parents house to bake more cookies and spend time with the kiddos. Madison started to breath heavy and so we headed to get her medicine, once her tummy began to ache....Uncle Eric, Grandma and I hauled her off to Childrens Medical where we sat for nine hours (7pm-4am) nodding off awaiting the arrival of her results. The reason we took her there is because we had been instructed to do so by her physician. She has had pneumonia three times already and we just have to take her as a precautionary. She was ok. Just a bit of allergies, her asthma acting up and a little infection. BUT now, she is ok. I came home and slept till 4pm the next and realized I was catching a cold...AGAIN> So, I took some meds, a shower, got it together and headed to moms with Eric once more. There we took my other niece Marisa to get some supplies she needs for school. I also helped her make her frosting and get her stuff ready for today. I should be getting ready to head to her school now but Im here getting up the energy. Still a bit tired. She is having a day full of ginger bread house making in her class and I promised her I would be there. I'm late. Good thing I called her to tell her I was running late so she wouldn't be too upset with me. They are allowed to bring a family member to help them with their project. So, I'm going to get up, get ready, pack a lunch and go hang with the 5th graders for the day! This week....I'm SUPER AUNT....lol. If you want to know where her parents are? They are in California. Ok...so of course, by the time I get back home I'll be tired I'm sure and ready for dinner and a movie....no wait....my husband has practice today and I promised Madison, Maverick and Marisa that I would help them decorate the Christmas tree at grandma's house. SO< in short...no I will not be able to get things done today, but on the bright side...there's always tomorrow....God willing. Then I will write up my list of to do's that I have to get done BEFORE my mother in law comes in next week for the holidays. :\ Also, I will hope to be able to put down the issues going on with my dad Vol. One. Of course I will not be working out today....although I will make it a point to try....it probably wont happen till tomorrow. Till then, off I go....gingerbread house here I come!
